Heat Seal Hair Spray

As well as keeping our hair in place, most of us like to know that hairspray also protects our hair – so we love the Amica range. The quick-drying and freeze-drying formula also protects against breakage, reduces split ends and strengthens hair thanks to provitamin B5. After blow-drying, we sprayed a little bit of the spray on our hair and it not only held it in place, but also gave it a better and shinier look. The spray, which comes in a quirky neon bottle, is also vegan and sulfate-free. With a fresh scent, we were impressed with how well it held our style throughout the day and how healthy our hair felt after brushing. A worthwhile investment for a perfect all-day glow.

At under £2, you can’t go wrong with this cheap but cheerful hairspray. If you ignore the classic hairspray smell, you’ll be as impressed as we were with how well it holds our hair overnight, as well as its non-sticky formula. Enriched with provitamin B5, it combs quickly that night and leaves our hair soft and tangle-free. This Superdrug exclusive hair spray is formulated with moisture protection and also comes in four other versions – from natural hold to extra strong. If you don’t have the budget for a fancy hairspray or if you use the stuff on a daily basis, this spray does a great job.

Known for its affordable range of hair care products, Living Proof’s Flexible Hairspray is perfect if you’re looking for natural strength. Housed in a sleek black bottle, this spray had a nice scent and didn’t weigh our hair down after drying. It gave our style a natural look, but we could also run our hands through our hair without losing style. The hair spray also has heat protection, which means it can be used on slightly damp hair. The lightweight formula had a bit of grip, and once we got into extreme weather conditions, our style was gone. However, for a medium hold, we were quite impressed and after another quick spray, the volume returned.

Innovative from the start – this hair spray comes in a unique glass bottle with an attractive packaging that gives it a luxurious feel.  The main ingredients of the sprays, marula oil and Icelandic moss, work quickly to get rid of frizz and give our curls a strong hold. Since the ingredients in the spray are all natural, you’ll need to shake the bottle before use, but we love how natural it stays all day. The next day, we brushed the spray out easily, leaving our hair shiny and undamaged. A great natural choice that also lasts well.

One of the prettiest hairsprays we’ve tried, it definitely holds or freezes our hair in place. A favorite of celebrity hairstylist Aaron Carle, we weren’t too fond of how stiff the spray was, making it difficult to brush through our hair and also leaving our hands sticky after application. However, the formula dries very quickly, both in the sun and in the rain when we’re out and about – a formula that lasts up to 24 hours. If you’re looking to keep a soft style in place and want a frizz-free spray at a great price, Tresemme can do it.

One that holds the curls tightly, providing a very firm hold instead of loose waves in place. When we sprayed it on our hair it was wet and sticky, it took a little longer to dry than other hair sprays we’ve tried. It worked best when we sprayed it on our hair and then brushed it out of our curls, otherwise our hair was left as it was and looked too stiff. Even after we brushed it out, the curls stayed with us all day and were wavy, even when we slept on them. It’s a great option if you want to keep your curls all day long – at a reasonable price.

This herbal hair spray with a fresh jasmine scent gives our hair flexibility without feeling too stiff. We love how you can add more and increase the hold as you style.  Infused with white charcoal, it was a light spray that dried quickly on our locks, with no stickiness. We used it on a hot day and it performed well in the humidity without wrinkling. The spray is also eco-friendly and cruelty-free, and offers heat protection up to 232°C – which is especially great if you use it before styling. On the other hand, it’s more expensive, so we’ll probably save it for special occasions or if we’re going out in the sun.

We’re fans of Maria Nilo’s range of herbal hair care products, so we were excited to try her Extreme Hairspray. With a sweet scent, it took a while to settle into our hair and dry, but when it did, the non-sticky formula gave our hair a firm yet natural hold. In addition to being made with 100 percent plant-based ingredients, this formula is sulfate- and paraben-free — meaning it’s perfect for all allergy sufferers. Even in windy conditions, our style stays in place all day, with the added benefit of smelling beautiful. One of the most expensive sprays we tested, at twice the price of the others, we expected miracles. Housed in a beautifully designed bottle, this nozzle has two settings – depending on which part of the hair you are spraying. It promises a non-sticky formula, but we found that to be the case when it went on, although the stickiness did decrease once it dried. A fine dry mist, it felt stiff when we sprayed it on our curls, but left them feeling weightless. Our hair grew all day and we loved it
